Welcome to Year 5 / 6

Mr Smith, Mrs Chappell, Mrs Jeeves, Mrs Gates & Miss Miller would like to extend a warm welcome to Year 5/6's area.
This is your one stop location for all the information you need about what is happening in Year 5 and Year 6.

Homework will be set on a Friday and will be due back in on the following Wednesday.  The homework will consist of a piece of Maths work which should consolidate what has been learnt in the previous week.  There will also be a piece of English homework based around the topic we've been covering.

We, as teachers, would like this process to be as simple as possible so if your child is struggling with the homework it is important that we know and can then do something about it.  Monday is normally the best day to speak to the teacher so that we can speak to the child involved and hopefully allow them to complete it in time for Wednesday.

We would like the children to read every day. Sometimes the children get time in class to read first thing in the morning or just after lunch but this isn't always the case.  If you could encourage your child to spend some time reading at home, it will soon have an impact on their writing.  Please can you ensure that your child records their reading in their Reading Record as this allows the teachers to see what they are reading.  Your child does not have to read a school reading book, but can choose any age appropriate reading material. If you would like any advice about this, please see your child's class teacher.

Please ensure that your child has a full change of PE kit in school consisting of a top, trousers (for warmth in outdoor PE), a pair of shorts (for freedom of movement in indoor PE) and a change of footwear, including fresh socks in case outdoor PE is wet.
