The service offered by Paintbox Breakfast & After School Club
The After School Club is open 38 weeks each year and matches the term dates of Sutton CE (VC) Primary School.
We are open Monday to Friday each week from 7:30 – 08:45 (school opening) and 15:00 -17:30.
Term time only
School drop off & Pick Up
Children attending breakfast club are all taken to school together at 8:45 all members of staff accompany the children with the children in reception being dropped off first, then key stage 1 and then key stage 2. All children are dropped off at their class door with staff members watching to ensure the child is settled or handing over to a member of school staff to settle.
Pre-school aged children accompany the children to school before returning with staff for the start of their pre-school session.
Children attending the setting for a session starting at 3.15pm are collected from Sutton C of E (VC) Primary School at the end of the school day. A staff member from the setting meets older children (school years 1-6) in the courtyard area. The member of staff wears the club uniform so they are easily identified by the children. They have a register listing all the children attending the setting on that day. Younger children (Reception age)) are collected from their classrooms by an additional member of staff. The children walk together accompanied by a member of staff to the back gate of the setting (situated within the school grounds)
Pre-school aged children will accompany members of staff collecting children from school at the end of their pre-school session.
Provision cannot be made for children attending an afterschool club at Sutton school to then attend a session at Paintbox. The school staff may be able to collect your child and bring them back to Paintbox. Please speak to the school. Please note that if your child attends an after school activity, the session still needs to be booked and paid for from 3:15pm.
Activities
As a breakfast and after school club we feel it is important that the children have an opportunity to choose the activities they participate in at the start and end of the school day. To this end the setting provides one key activity each day which the children may choose to participate in, activities may include for example; a themed craft activity; a group sport; cooking or a nature activity. The children are encouraged to participate in the planning of these activities through group discussion. In addition to the key activities children can also select from a variety of additional activities which include … x box games, pool, board games, craft, computer activities, construction, ball games etc.
Homework
The setting provides a quiet homework table on a daily basis where children may choose to work on their school homework. Staff provide support if required.
Food & Snacks
Breakfast is served between 7:30 and 8:15 and is buffet style with a selection of cereals, fresh fruit, cereal bars, yogurts and pastries. Water, fruit juice and milk are all freely available for the children to drink
A snack is provided from 15:30 & 16:30 although fruit and drinks are available at all times. We plan the menus for snacks so that they provide the children with healthy and nutritious food. A typical snack might be toast with a choice of spreads or homemade pizza muffins. Fruit and drinks are available at all times
The setting makes breakfast and snack time a social time at which children and adults eat together. Do tell us about your child’s dietary needs and we will make sure these are met.
Breakfast and snacks are included in the cost of the sessions.
Meals
In accordance with our food and hygiene policy we have a limited ability to heat and serve more substantial food. We can heat food contained in a sealed package marked with the heating instructions. The food item must not require refrigeration and must be shop bought not homemade. In practice this would usually mean a can or packet of dried food. Food is served at 16:30.
Dropping off and Collecting children
Children are dropped off and collected from the side door of the setting (found to the right of the main entrance) All children should be signed in and out.
Communication
Afterschool club will use Class Dojo to keep you informed of the activities the children have been taking part in, and may also use this to contact you. The app is available as a download on Google Play for Android and App store for IOS.
